 I missed a week again. I have time to write a post tonight because tomorrow is Memorial Day and our employment office is closed, so I have time to prepare my English lesson tomorrow. There was a very bad storm almost 2 weeks ago, resulting in 500,000 people without power. A lot of families were without power for almost a week. All of their food spoiled and no air conditioning. It has been in the mid 90's almost every day. The family that I talked about quite some time ago that took 4 years to walk from Venezuela, had major leaks in the apartment they are staying in, resulting in their bed getting soaked so they couldn't sleep. We take so many things for granted that a lot of people in the world don't have to make their life comfortable.  Every week we have someone come into the Employment Center that is experiencing a serious issue in their life.  I missed posting on the blog again last week. Just had too much to get done. We are really enjoying teaching in the English Connect program, as I mentioned earlier. We have about 30 students in total and there is a very wide spectrum in their ability to learn. Some of them didn't have much formal schooling when they were young, and others have college degrees. We even have one man that was a Professor of Literature in Columbia in our class. It has been very hard to try and design the lessons so that those that are having a difficult time can still learn and progress, and so that those who are very advanced don't get bored. As a result, I use the basic outline in the lesson manual we have, but I put power point presentations together in a way that I think will present the material the best for both ends of the spectrum. It takes me about 5 hours to put one lesson together that I am comfortable with to help all those that attend the class. I am convinced that it is much easier f...
