This is a picture of the sunset from our apartment balcony. It is not the same as the sunsets in Sanpete County but it is still beautiful. On our way to church we drive through an area where there are some pastures with cows in them, even though it is in the middle of the city of Spring which is a suberb of Houston.  At least I get to see some cows on Sundays. They have green grass year around which is a lot different from Spring City. Being a hay farmer here might not be the best occupation.

The end of the pond at our apartments is close to our apartment. This is the main wildlife that we see. The turtles come out to bask in the sun when it is shining.

This week we had a 77 year old sister come in looking for a job. She had been living with her daughter for several years and had given her most of her money to buy their house.  All of a sudden, one day her daughter told her that she had 24 hours to get out of the house.  This was in Arkansas. Her deceased husband had a nephew in Houston that was about all the family she had left to help her. So she moved to Houston and is living with him and his family for the time being. She got a job at Deseret Industries until she can find something better. This was a heart-rendering experience to see this elderly lady have to go back into the workforce for this type of a reason.  She wants to be independent and is willing to work so that she can pay her own way and have her own place to live. Velyn and I both admire her so much and appreciate the opportunity we have to know her and to be able to help her find work.

Velyn and I spoke in church today. She spoke on the redeeming aspect of the Atonement of Jesus Christ, and I spoke on the enabling aspect of the Atonement. Here is a short excerpt from my talk:

I also want to add the ending to my talk, which summarizes so well the enabling aspect of the Atonement of Jesus Christ:

This week we will continue working with the sister I described previously, by helping her to customize her resume for some jobs that she would like to apply for.  There are not many employers who want to hire someone that is 77 years old, but hopefully, we will be able to help find the right job for her.  I can remember back about 13 years ago when I turned 77, and I felt pretty old then. But now at 90, I'm really feeling it!
